Monasterio Nuestra Seora De Los

08.55

Monasterio Nuestra Señora De Los Angeles / Monjas Dominicas

Mare de Deu del Roser, 2.

Sant Cugat.

Rising at 06.15.

Morning Sitting at 07.15.

The quality of presence is noticeable, particularly for the first formal sitting of the course.

Quiet entered the breakfasting chamber at 08.10 and was widely ignored. It returned & was accepted at 08.24.

Brief meeting with Dr. Mike to discuss various arisings.

11.40  T’ai Chi with Luciano at 09.30 in the Mosquito Grove.

Kitchen Team meeting in the kitchen at 10.05.

Guitar Beginners’ meeting in the ballroom at 10.30 with Buddies Martin, Fernando, Victor & Luciano in attendance.

Circulations in various ways. Great difficulty with some in matching counting & the striking of an accent. Moving onto the Right Hand: the situation was described as desperate but not hopeless & the Four Buddies took over.

14.20  Various comments & questions at lunchtime. One comment addressed the improvement in the Beginners’ work in the Circle, until something fancy was presented; like counting to 5 & playing the instrument simultaneously.

The governing strategy of the afternoon seems to be: self-organising. The Guitarists Who Suck are meeting to discuss the best way forward; perhaps this is in small groups with Buddies who will be approached for their help. I am available to personal meetings with the Staff & Kitchen Team, beginning with The LCG3 at 15.00 & the SSG I at 15.30.

20.17  T’ai Chi at 18.30.

A noisy dinner. Quiet offered itself at 19.05 but was not welcomed; quiet only fell when comments on the afternoon’s work were invited.

Some good comments were offered, particularly on feeling & seeing oneself as part of the Circle. A comment offered in response to this:

In a real group, when a member acts on behalf of the group, in a sense they are the group.

The question was asked: how shall we work this evening?  One sense was to work in small groups; another suggestion was for a large group. As these approaches are not exclusive of each other, it was suggested: those who would like to work in small groups self-organise; those who would like to work in a large/r group, arrive in the Ballroom with guitar at 21.00.

22.19  The large meeting had 14 guitars in the inner circle & 25 in the outer circle.

Various circulations in various groups. Interesting developments as groups began to know each other, or not. Great difficulties appeared when the attempt to play in time, in an appointed rhythm, was made.
